Volunteer terms

These apply in addition to the general terms for anyone with a volunteer account.

What a volunteer is

A member of the public who has given their name and agreed to put it to what they do here. A volunteer is not an employee, is not paid, and does not represent any authority.

What a volunteer can do

Confirm reports in their own area, and file reports of their own. Write for the blog, where a moderator reads the piece before it appears.

What a volunteer cannot see

Nothing beyond what any visitor sees. No reporter's identity, because none is held. No exact positions — the coarsened position is all that is shown to anybody outside the moderation queue.

Anyone told otherwise is being misled: a volunteer badge grants no access to personal data, because there is none to grant.

Honesty

Confirm only what you have seen yourself. Recording a visit you did not make, or confirming a problem you did not witness, ends the membership.

What is public about you

Your name, your area, your membership number, your description of yourself, and your photograph if you added one. Your email address and phone number are not public and never will be.

Your badge

The badge shows a membership that is real at the moment it is checked. Suspend or close an account and the badge stops working immediately, as does the page that confirms it.

Do not use the badge to claim authority you do not have. It says you volunteer here. It does not say you represent any government body.

Ending it

Leave whenever you like, by writing to support@voiceofbharath.com. Accounts may also be suspended where these terms are broken.
