This site sets as few cookies as it can, and none for advertising.

What is set

A session cookie, so the site can remember one page to the next — which language you chose, a message you should see, and whether you are signed in. It disappears when you close the browser.

A cookie holding a random identifier, used with a one-way fingerprint to stop one person flooding the board with reports. It identifies nobody.

A cookie remembering your chosen language, so you do not have to pick it again.

What is not set

No advertising cookies. No analytics that follow you to other sites. No third-party trackers, and no social network buttons that report your visit back before you press them — the sharing buttons here are ordinary links that do nothing until you use them.

Nothing on these pages is fetched from anywhere else. The typefaces are stored on this site rather than loaded from a font service, which would otherwise have been told your address every time you opened a page. Reading here is between you and this site.

Turning them off

Any browser can block cookies. Blocking them here will stop you staying signed in and will stop the site remembering your language, but reading and reporting will still work.
